STUG – Steam Turbine Users Group

 

The Steam Turbine Users Group (STUG) first formally met in Richmond, Virginia in August of 2014. In its infancy, The STUG’s primary focus was General Electric A10/D11 frame combined cycle steam turbines. In just a few short years, participation and feedback from the Users has helped broaden both forum and conference coverage to combined cycle steam turbines of most every major OEM.

At its core, STUG is an organization run by Users, for Users. Each annual conference is aimed toward providing an opportunity for owner/operators of combined cycle steam turbines worldwide to share experiences, best practices and “lessons learned” via attendee-driven discussions regarding design, installation, operation, maintenance, overhaul and personnel/equipment safety. The long term goal is (and shall remain) to effectively communicate and transfer industry knowledge from those seasoned professionals to the rising generation of power industry work force.

Mission Statement of the Steam Turbine Users Group

“The Steam Turbine Users Group is organized to provide an open forum through conferences and technological aids to the Owners/Operators of Combined Cycle Steam Turbines and their associated generator systems for effective communication, discussion, and information dissemination regarding the operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of such systems to maximize equipment performance and reliability. These purposes will be achieved through providing an opportunity at meetings, conferences, company email, and website for the open exchange of ideas between owner / operators and owner / operators with vendors.
