Mission Statement of the Power Users Group
Power Users Group, Inc. is organized to provide an open forum through conferences and technological aids to the Owners/Operators of Power Generation Equipment and systems for effective communication, discussion, and information dissemination regarding the operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of such systems to maximize equipment performance and reliability. These purposes will be achieved through providing an opportunity at meetings, conferences, company email, and website for the open exchange of ideas between owner / operators and owner / operators with vendors.

Sam Graham – Tenaska
Board Member since 2012
Sam is the Operations Manager at Tenaska Virginia Partners.
He has been part of the 7F Steering Committee since 2009.
Ben Meissner – Duke Energy
Board Member since 2012
Ben is the Manager of Programs for Turbines and Generators at Duke Energy.
He was part of the 7F steering committee from 2009 to 2014.
Peter So – Calpine
Board Member since 2012
Pete is a Project Development Manager at Calpine Corporation.
He has been part of the 7F steering committee since 1999.
Jake English – Duke Energy
Board Member since 2015
Jake is a Steam Turbine Program Manager at Duke Energy.
He helped establish the STUG in 2014 and is currently a member of STUG’s committee.
Ed Maggio – Tampa Electric Company
Board Member since 2015
Ed is the Manager, Turbine Gen Field Services at TVA.
Ed has been part of the 7F steering committee since 2013.
Phyllis Gassert – Talen Energy
Board Member since 2016
Phyllis is the Director of Asset Management at Talen Energy.
Phyllis has been part of the CCUG steering committee since 2012.
Power Users History
Power Users Group, Inc. was established in 2012 originally named 7F Users Group, Inc. This corporation was created by the 7F steering committee as a way to improve cost management of the annual conference, protect the interests of Users and the group leadership, and to maintain a website and forum interface for the Users. The Power Users Group is a not-for-profit organization managed on a voluntary bases by the Board of Directors. All Board of Directors are active Power Generation Owner/Operators.
The 7F steering committee felt a focus on steam turbines was needed in the industry and supported the creation of the Steam Turbine Users Group (STUG) in 2014. This group has gained a lot of support and influence in the industry. In 2015, the Combined Cycle Users Group joined the Power Users Group. This group and the STUG supported the first combined conference in 2015. In 2015, the Power Users Group supported the launch of the Generator Users Group with Clyde V Maughan, president, Maughan Generator Consultants. Their first conference was held in 2015 and was combined with the CCUG and STUG conference in 2016.
The establishment of Power Users Group has enabled this expansion which has resulted in an improved position of strength and influence in the industry.
